Smashing Pumpkins Last Night

March 28, 2008

Went to see the Pumpkins at the Hordern with Lach (my bro) last night and they went off! I saw them when they were here in ’99 and have to say I enjoyed their old style better but there was no faulting them for the 10 year hiatus and new band line up (who it seems are better musos than the old team but look weirdly similar – Eurasian guy and blond chick – marketing ploy?)

Great review of the gig here with photos.

Live in Concert

March 21, 2008

Almost a week ago my brother-in-law, Nick, called me up out of the blue to offer me a spare ticket to see Jack Johnson in Centennial Park. I took it. Awesome! Such a sweet concert and great weather. His voice was amazing. Jack and the band had a kicking competition off the stage using a beach ball the crowd was bashing around.

This week I’m going to see The Smashing Pumpkins. They were one of my first favourite bands – I went to see them on their Adore tour in ’99. I’m really looking forward to it.

What’s your favourite live music performance?

Toose Music News

May 16, 2007

A bit of music news from the Toose Hoose. I’m listening to the Kaiser Chiefs recent album ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob’ which I bought recently – it’s great!!! I especially like the track title ‘Ruby’ – I sing it to Scott & Kat’s dog (called Ruby) and she obviously loves it – howling away in a beautiful duet 🙂

In other exciting music news The Smashing Pumpkins have reformed (with Billy and Jimmy the only members from the original band) and I heard a snippet of the first single ‘Tarantula’ of their forthcoming new album ‘Zeitgeist’. Awesome! They were at one time my favourite band – still up there tho’. I saw them live on their ‘Adore’ tour when I was in Year 11 – we got floor tickets back when moshing was cool and not deadly.

I also heard today that Audioslave have disbanded and Rage Against The Machine have reformed without Chris Cornell (I realise I’m a little late in hearing this news).

ps. Check out the image on the left. It’s the sheet music to Super Mario Bros Theme – cool!
